Ever experience an intense craving for hummus, that sweet, smooth and sexy flavour of chickpeas, tahina, garlic, olive oil and lemon? For those who can’t schlepp to Tel Aviv, just hop onto the subway and get ready to salivate.
Chez Benny’s huge menu of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine includes turkey shwarma, shish taouk, beef kebab, and too many types of Israeli salad to count. Everything is made with the best kosher ingredients, and the combos are usually the way to go – under $12 for a drink, french fries, and a pita stuffed with the works.
The whole experience, with patrons speaking Hebrew and reading Yiddish newspapers, feels as authentic as you can get – they don’t even roll on Shabbos.
