Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? You don’t have to book it to Verona to find romance this summer, because Romeo is making his home right here in Montreal, thanks to Shakespeare-in-the-park.
From July 29th-August 22nd, Repercussion Theatre is giving performances of Romeo & Juliet in parks all around the island of Montreal. Watch this age-old tale of tragic romance among the trees on a balmy evening, and don’t be afraid to drop a couple bucks on the perfect picnic blanket for you and your date – every single performance is free. Repercussion Theatre believes in making dynamic theatre accessible to everyone, regardless of her wealth (or lack thereof). And the costumes have been described as outfits for “the hipsters of Verona,” so this show should definitely be interesting.
What a lovely escape from the daily grind! Shakespeare-in-the-park is one summer fling we’re looking forward to keeping. Shall we compare it to a summer’s day?
