Spa Fresh Face at Home!

By MANDY POON

Instead of shelling out the big bucks to get your sun-abused, sweat-clogged skin treated at a spa, why not pamper your face with an equally effective mask, made right out of your kitchen?  This yogurt mask is the perfect pick-me-up for the end of a sticky summer day, And you probably have all the ingredients you need sitting on your shelves.

You’ll need:

  • 3 tablespoons of sugar – just plain old, white sugar. No Splenda, please.
  • 2 tablespoons of natural yogurt. Pick up the thickest, creamiest yogurt you can find to ensure minimal drippage of mask off your face.  If you don’t have yogurt at home, just pick up a small container at the supermarket for about a buck.
  • 1 tablespoon of honey.

Combine all ingredients in a re-sealable container.

Rub onto your face.

Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes.

Wash off with a washcloth and warm water.

You can keep this mask in your fridge for three days.

The lactic acid in yogurt soothes and smoothens skin, and calms sunburns, while honey gives skin the hint of moisture it needs without making it oily.  The sugar will help exfoliate the dead skin cells off your face, making your post-sun peeling as elegant as possible. Enjoy your super fresh face! And relish in the fact that spa money can now go towards that expanding summer wardrobe.
