With a restaurant and food court every few feet, it’s hard to know which place is worth your while. So we’ve done the investigating (and stomach work) for you – and it’s safe to say that Central Station, the Eaton Centre’s food court (supposedly the largest food court in North America), really is a court above the rest.
The selection at Central Station is incredible – there’s everything from shish taok, burritos, and salads to sushi, tandoori, burgers, and popcorn (that’s right, there’s a Kernels kiosk) and more to choose from. It has all the expected major chains – Burger King, Cultures, Amir and so on. But there are also many smaller, independent restaurants to chose from. My fave deal of them all? Aux Vieux Duluth’s chicken wrap with a side salad and a drink – all for $7.00. The average price of lunch isn’t much higher than that, and the giant flat screens displaying sports, news updates and soap operas make your lunch hour even better.
Downtown is definitely a whirlwind of commotion, especially during the lunch hour rush. So head down to Central Station, grab a taco and a side of caramel corn, linger over your latte and an Us Weekly, and enjoy your hour off.
