Thanks to the plethora of little gems (including 69 Collective) that have recently popped up in Bloordale Village, this once-sketchy area is now cleaning up its act. Creativity abounds in the recently opened Haus, a treasure trove of vintage finds and reworked pieces from emerging artists and young designers.
You need only look at the store’s window display, currently showcasing Julie Phelp’s artistic genius, to get a feel for what lies within. The upcycled antique lighting fixtures illuminate each one-of-a-kind piece, from jewellery to clothing to home decor. Our favourite finds include designer (Christian Dior) sunglasses for a mere twenty bucks, as well as some great tops from Jool by Julie Phelp’s line of reworked clothes, ranging in price from $40-$85. Not a bad deal for an authentic piece by an emerging Toronto artist.
And as if Haus wasn’t cool enough, they’re giving us a reason to tolerate those dreaded Mondays. That’s the day the store offers specials on its line of beautiful “Cheap Monday” designer jeans, which normally cost $75. Some Mondays, you can get them at 20% off; on others, by simply trying on this delicious denim, you’ll receive 10% off your next purchase.
So next time you feel like shopping, check out Haus –a playhaus that’s fun for all.
