Grab your green clothes and clover-shaped drinking caps because it’s St. Patrick’s Day in the city! We know you Bandits are into it, so find out where you can drink 50 kegs and which pubs have the best live Irish music in Toronto by checking out our handy St. Patty’s Day guide.
St. Party’s Day
A group of avid St. Patrick’s Day partiers looking to make their favourite day a statutory holiday, St. Partiers are hosting a party inside the St. Lawrence Market this Thursday. They promise a rowdy time complete with green beer, Smoke’s Poutinerie treats, and the music of Ryan Higgins and Canadian Idol contestant Mookie Morris. Even if you can’t make it, these St. Party’s Day folks want you to sign their petition to make this party day a national holiday.
Where: 92 Front Street East (St. Lawrence Market North Building)
When: Doors open at noon.

Fionn MacCool’s University
The most action-packed night of events will be at the University location of Fionn Maccool’s, where the Wall of Kegs has made its return! Maccool’s has 50 kegs –which equals 5000 pints – and they need your help to drink them. With $1 from each pint going to the Canadian Opera Company’s Children’s Program and live entertainment going from 5 P.M. until 1:30 A.M., it should be a good night. Arrive early to see the Irish dancers go on at 5 P.M. and stay to close out the night with the 4-piece Irish rock band, The Dan Mock Band.

When: 11 A.M. to 1 A.M.
Cost: Free before 9 P.M.! $5 after 9 P.M. with 100% of proceeds going to the Canadian Opera Company’s Children’s Program.

Randy Vancourt’s The Rocky Road to Dublin: The Irish Canadian Musical Celebration
A Bandit-friendly night at the theatre is a rarity in this city, but on St. Patty’s Day, it’s a different story. A trio of musicians will be performing this Irish musical, penned by Juno-winning composer Randy Vancourt, at Mysteriously Yours… Dinner Theatre. The show features fiddles, banjos and mandolins, and before the show begins, Irish grub will be served up with a menu that includes Guinness-battered breads and chicken potpie for under $10.

When: 8 PM to 10 PM
Cost: $25 for show, food is an additional $5-$9 (available from 6:30 P.M. to 8 P.M.)

Pogue Mahone Irish Pub
Pogue Mahone may be an Irish term for “Kiss My Arse,” but this pub is a cozy, welcoming place to enjoy your green beer and Gaelic tunes on St. Patrick’s Day. The main events for Thursday the 17th include live Irish music from 3 PM until midnight and all-day Irish trivia for a chance to win great prizes. As a bonus, the heated patio will be open!
