Pop quiz, canucks! Name the members of the Group of Seven.
Just kidding. We wouldn’t want to bring back traumatic memories of eighth-grade art projects where endless autumn landscapes made you keel over. We understand that viewing Canadian art has been a little stressful ever since.
On now through October 29th, at the Patrick John Mills Gallery, experience art that challenges those boring landscapes, happy flowers, and “colourful commercial crap”. I Killed the Group of Seven is a sixteen-artist exhibition that promises creativity, edge, and an outside-the-box approach to art. Thank you, Canada.
And, as part of the 1st Thursdays Wellington West Art Walk, visit the gallery on October 6th between 6 and 9 pm to chat with artists (and maybe form an eight-grade art class support group in the process?). Normal gallery hours are 12 – 5 pm, Thursday to Saturday, or by appointment, and admission is FREE!
So save the scenery for those tacky Canadiana sweaters. Or for the 401 on the Thanksgiving weekend ride home.
