Hooley’s: Something to Hoot about

Hooley’s Pub

BY CLAIR CORNISH

Wing night deals have often been a mainstay for the fiscally conservative looking to eat out.  Hooley’s Pub on Elgin Street has just taken this tradition to the next level. On Monday nights, the pub offers $.35 wings if you buy a drink, meaning you get eight delicious wings for a grand total of $2.80.

Flavours range from the normal (hot, medium, mild, honey garlic, suicide) to the more exotic (Cajun, lemon pepper, Caribbean jerk, red Thai, salt and vinegar, maple bacon, and Halifax heat). Word on the street is their suicide is a force to be reckoned with, and servers will often give a disclaimer to the daring patron about their ‘no return’ policy. To soothe your burning taste buds, enjoy a refreshing brew from Hooley’s great selection, ranging from the 50 to Mclausen’s Apricot Ale.

Can’t make it out on Mondays?  You’re definitely not out of luck. Tuesdays are $4 Keith’s, Wednesdays the entire menu is half-off and mixed drinks are $4, on Thursdays they offer $3  tequila shots and/or tacos, Fridays from 4-9 pm all appetizers are half price and most drinks are under $4.50, and on Saturdays, get $5 burgers and $4 mixed drinks until 10 pm. And don’t worry about showing up with your entire entourage – the bar’s massive booths can accommodate even the largest of hungry crowds.

With hootin’ good deals every night of the week, it seems like there’s always an excuse to visit Hooley’s.
