Ballet Bargain Bliss at the National Ballet of Canada

The Bolshoi Ballet. The Mariinsky Theater. Mikhail Baryshnikov. Russia is just brimming with gorgeous men… err, ballet talent. But now you won’t have to jet to Moscow to experience this classic art form in true Russian style. The National Ballet of Canada boasts some exquisite performances this season, which bandits can break into for as little as 362.005 rubles (that’s only $12, and less than the cost of a movie ticket)!

Performances include Hamlet, Sleeping Beauty, and The Seagull. Sure, you can rent the movies or read the Coles Notes, but why not replace that prose and parlance with some plie’s and pirouettes?

Of most interest to this bandit is last year’s hit sensation, Chroma – a ballet choreographed to the rock and roll sounds of The White Stripe’s Jack White! You can learn more about each performance here.

So how can a bandit score tickets that won’t cost un bras et une jambe? Here are three simple ways to dip your pointed-toes into the waters of dance:

  • Show up at 11:00 am on the day of the performance to reserve standing room tickets on the 3rd and 4th ring for only $12
  • Show up at 11:00 am on the day of the performance to buy rush tickets for $35
  • Reserve tickets on the 5th ring for $25

With prices this low, you won’t have to dance with the devil to get a glimpse of tutus – you’ll be dancing on air!
